The Super Rugby finals begin this afternoon as theCrusaders host the Reds in Christchurch. Join us at 5.35pm this afternoon for live scores and commentary.
All the previous rounds have built up to this point but now mean nothing more than a way to determine who plays at the home ground.
The Crusaders are the form team of the competition over the last three or four rounds but could exit the competition in front of their home crowd if they aren’t able to get the job done.
This year has been hot and cold, up and down for the Reds and yet, if they perform on the day they will progress and not the more fancied opponent.
Last time these two sides met was in 2012 when the Reds again travelled to meet the Crusaders at home.
The Reds hit the Crusaders with an early try and had them on the ropes for much of the game after getting into their attacking and suffocating patterns earlier and not relenting.
It was a few poor decisions late on by the Reds and great goal-kicking that got the Crusaders home, without a try scored by them.
Dan Carter is probably the form kicker of the competition if it isn’t Christian Lealiifano and he’ll be relied upon to cause the Reds pain anytime they infringe in their own half – and they do infringe at ruck time.
The Reds will hope Will Genia is better for the rest last week and will be able to pick the right forward runners while mixing in a very healthy dose of those effortless accelerations of his own.

Both sides have the ability to meet the game and are able to counter-attack, play confrontationally and can adapt tactically to meet the changing requirements of the game.
